WICHITA FALLS — An early morning attempt at a traffic stop resulted in Wichita County Sheriff's deputies busting a suspected burglary ring.
Sheriff David Duke said it began about 3:45 a.m. when deputies stopped a pickup truck in the Floral Heights neighborhood. Two male occupants of the truck ran, leaving behind a female passenger. Deputies arrested her and chased down one of the male occupants. The other suspect escaped on foot.
Duke said his deputies learned the pickup had been stolen overnight. The woman who was arrested, a former city of Wichita Falls Police dispatcher, led officers to a duplex in the 1300 block of Burnett. Deputies obtained a search warrant and kicked in the door about 10 a.m. today. A man and another woman were arrested in the apartment. The names of the two women and one man arrested were not released by late morning, but Duke released the name and mugshot of another man wanted in connection with the operation, He is Jason Martin, 31. Just before noon, deputies arrested 4 suspects at the Circle Inn Motel on Seymour Highway and a fifth nearby. They also seized two cars, a gun and drugs.
Duke said items in found in the duplex on Burnett Street had been taken in recent burglaries. He said his office also anticipated finding a "large amount" of methamphetamine connected to the operation.
He said he understands the burglaries may have been going on for several weeks and Wichita Falls Police were pursuing leads.
Duke said some of the burglaries may have occurred in the County Club area, on Harrison Street and Fairway Boulevard. He said in on instance the burglars broke in while the homeowners were in the house.

I'll add my thanks and appreciation to jj's to the men and women of the SO; and would be remiss if I did not include the other LEA's involved in many of the drug busts.
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that there have been more drug busts in the past 6 months or so? That truly cannot be a bad thing. Or, maybe it is an omen that our fair area has a bigger drug problem that many thought or would admit.

I think it's got to do with the SO getting a good handle on things going on. I like what Sheriff Duke is doing. While he isn't getting 100%, every bust he makes, he's taking a little more off the streets. Good job, sir!
