Bob Gamber, Wichita Falls
The U.S. House passed the "Taxpayer Relief Act" on Tuesday night. Our representative voted for it. It will increase the money 77 percent of us pay to D.C.
Where's the relief? It will increase taxes by $41 for every $1 cut in spending. Relief?
It's going to be OK though. Those people who are supposed to represent us are going to get serious on spending in the next 60 days. Reagan agreed to $1 more taxes for $3 in spending cuts.
Result: no cuts. Bush 41 agreed to $1 more tax for $2 in spending cuts.
Result: no cuts. Does anyone seriously believe there will be cuts this time?

You must not question our leaders! They Know what is best! That is how they got anointed in the first place.

What if they were to put Air Force One & Two in mothballs, do you think it would keep the Golfer-In-Residence a little closer to home, and maybe save a few bucks?
Melkor writes:
Almost EVERY President since Eisenhower took to the golf course countless times so enough with the "golf course rhetoric!" All two term Presidents have taken "too many vacations" as well. Just because the current one happens to have been born in Hawaii doesn't make him any more responsible for wanting to take a vacation. Crawford, Texas still receives a lot of visitors. Granted, it's far from being Hawaii but, those folks aren't complaining about the increase in their revenue.
Let's talk about Ronny Reagan increasing taxes EIGHT TIMES when he was in charge. "Read my lips!" All of you hypocrites come on here "worrying" about what your "grandkids" are going to be paying when you want to end programs that are put out there specifically to lower what they would have to pay. "Obamacare" is the first one that comes to mind. Insurance companies want to make money, which is not a bad thing. But, when it comes to paying out that money, they are the first ones to find any number of reasons to NOT pay us back. Then comes the petroleum industries. They now have "fraking" to get more oil/natural gas from the ground. Never mind that your faucet can be set on fire because of this. What does that say about the water our "grandkids" will be drinking? You are trying to pick the mote out of our eyes while ignoring the beam in yours! Sheppard Air Force Base won't be closing as long as they are doing the exemplary job they have been for decades.

Bob , if they are going to increase our taxes $41 for every $1 in spending cuts , we had all better hope they don't increase spending cuts . Are you saying that if they cut spending by one trillion our taxes will increase forty one trillion ? We just can't afford that .
riceboal writes:
A tip of the Hatlo Hat to you Melkor for daring to print the facts about the revered " B " actor that turned into the best President the Republicans ever had . George Murphy & Sonny Bono may have equaled him if elected , but we can only speculate about that.
While Reagan did cut income taxes , which primarily served large salary earners , he raised various user taxes on virtually everything else to over compensate the loss . This raised actual taxes on everyone .

You may be right about some things here but how can "fraking" set you water faucet on fire.

Ive been on hundreds of frac jobs. Never heard of a problem with any of em.
I dont believe that story either.
Abram writes:
Well I guess it is a little closer to Hawaii than it is to Kenya, but George and his family usually spent their Christmas's at Champ David and when they went to Crawford, they didn't have to rent half the town.
riceboal writes:
I wouldn't classify the following as evidence , but this phenomonen has been reported . It could be due to other causes perhaps .
The biggest criticism of fracking here in the US is that it contaminates ground water. Greens and local activists say both the chemicals used to help access the gas and the gas itself are leaching into local water supplies, posing both immediate safety and long-term health risks. In a particularly dramatic scene from the 2010 Oscar-nominated anti-fracking documentary "Gasland," a neighbor of one fracking operation contends that his water supply has been contaminated by methane and proceeds to light the water flowing from his kitchen tap on fire.

You know about frac jobs do ya?
Trapper writes:
Might want to check out that "water flowing from tap fire" thingy there riceboal. You might also want to check out a lot of the other claims made by "Gasland".
MovingBack writes:
Thank you!!! If the gas well drilled and fracked ever had ground water trickle into it, the water would evaporate due to the depth of the hole.
The only gas libtards smell is when they stick their heads between their legs and inhale. I understand they like this smell and perform this act as often as possible. The ones in San Francisco, where they all should live, can even get their heads farthur between their legs just like their President, who is currently performing this act in a private residence on a private beach in Hawaii, the place his mother first let his father have "Relations", along with all of his father's friends!!!
riceboal writes:
For the benefit of all my right wing " friends " who never pass an opportunity to take a shot at a " libtard " , I can only say that I didn't classify the entry as evidence but " gasland " was only one of others that made the same claim .
MovingBack shows his lack of knowledge regarding the capabilities of gas . You don't have to put your nose anywhere near your legs to detect escaping gas . It can permeate the shorts , the pants & the ground when released & freakin' frackin' will release it for upward travel. And yes Carp , in my very early years , before I learned there was a better way to make money , I worked as an oil field roustabout .
I have been away from here for a time & considered ending my time here , but I felt that I was denying myself the opportunity to grow by not reading the writings of the right wing founts of knowledge available here 24/7/365.

And Riceboal shows a complete lack of command of the english language. I was not commenting on the properties of gas, but of the properties of libtards and the location of their gass smelling incidents.
Like all libtards, Riceboal takes a small part of a larger opinion out of context to try and make it fit his viewpoint. A viewpoint that is idiotic at best, sadly stupid at worse. I hope he continues to build his fledgling knowledge base as there is no source of knowledge from his side. Only envy and jelousy of those that try to provide for themselves and take personal responsibility.

Being a roustabout and being involved in a frac job are two different things.

Hypocrite Exposed!!!!
Next time you criticize a poster as someone who “shows a complete lack of command of the english language.” Do this as not to expose your intelligence level.
1. Capitalize English
2. Spell “jealously” correctly as jealously .
3. Spell “gass” correctly as “gas”
4. Use complete sentences.

Takes a small part of a larger opinion ? Are you calling what you wrote a large opinion ? It is a fantasy you made up to take a shot at people you don't like . What view point is stupid ? What is idiotic about what I wrote ? I am envious of you because you provide for yourself ? Are you insinuating I don't ? What do you base that opinion on ?
Are you aware that 3/4ths of Texas has an underground aquifier that you have to drill through to reach oil ? Do you recognize that underground accidents happen on wells at times & water has been polluted ? Are you in denial ? Are they celebrating where you moved from ?
The major aquifers in Texas include the Ogalalla aquifer, the Gulf Coast aquifer, the Edwards aquifer, Carrizo-Wilcox aquifer, Edwards-Trinity (Plateau) aquifer, the Seymour aquifer, the Hueco-Mesilla Bolson, and the Cenozoic Pecos aquifer. The Ogalalla Aquifer, the largest aquifer in North America, covers 174,000 square miles in 8 states (Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Colorado, South Dakota, and Wyoming) and incorporates some of the most important agricultural land in the nation. More than 14 million hectares of land are irrigated by the Ogallala.

Welcome back Riceboal. MovingBack is a poor man's TC63 (no offense TC63). What I mean is he has all the twisted Fox_Glen Beck_Rush thinking but he is simply not very smart (TC63 is smart,... crazy, but smart). My New Year's resolution was to quit getting in the mud with the righties, but when they mess with the voice of reason, they mess with me.
carp writes:
You say to drill an oil well the water aquifier has be drilled through. In Texas, before a well is drilled the Railroad Commision instructs the oil operator how much surface pipe to set. A representive of the Commissionis present to witness the job in most cases. In this part of the country, its anywhere from 250' to 500'. The bottom of the pipe is well below the water table. Then, the pipe is cemented in the ground. It is required the cement circulates to the surface. This isolates the fresh water zone. So, it not like the pipe is drilled on down thru the water and is just there with no protection. It is protected by the cement job.
As they say, been there, done that.
Texasczech63 writes:
Rb.......do you have any EPA data to back up your claims of contamination due to hydraulic fracturing? The EPA report I just read said there have been no verified cases of drinking-water contamination resulting from hydraulic fracturing operations in states where shale gas is produced. This report was dated 12/05/2012.
