Faith Mission has an abundance of children's coats to give away but needs adult larger sizes to keep grown-ups warm through what has already been a wet, frigid winter.
"Last week we distributed 55 coats to people in need, which brings us to 250 so far this winter," Vicky Payne, mission spokesperson.
Payne said parents may bring children to the mission from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to shop the large collection of boys and girls outerwear. The need is still great, however, for donations of adult coats size large to 4X and 5X.
Donations may be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday at the south end dock of Faith Mission, 1300 Travis and at the Faith Mission Thrift Shoppe, 1628 Harrison from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday.
Both the mission dock and thrift shop will be closed today.

When I first saw this on the news I just wondered how homeless people can be a size 4X and 5X? Where do they get all this food to make them this large? Just wonderin? They are way too obese, IMHO.

As a person that works at the mission every once in a while, I can say, they are not all homeless. They may be down on their luck, or some situations crop up that they cannot control. I have even seen some of my own friends there. While you may not agree with their lifestyle or eating choices, they are still people in need.
