Olney's athletic director and head football coach resigned at Monday afternoon's school board meeting effective at the end of the school year.
Gunter Rodriguez had just finished his fourth year at the helm of the Cubs, who finished 2012 with a 0-10 record as it battled low numbers. Olney played with one senior for much of the season.
Rodriguez went 7-33 during his tenure, with his best record a 3-7 mark in 2009, his first at the school and Olney's last at the Class 2A level.
"The faith Olney put into me to lead the program for four years, I was afforded a great opportunity here," Rodriguez said. "I don't have any regrets, and I'd do it all over again.
"It's just been great, and I'm sorry we couldn't meet expectations that were here. Hopefully, we built a program with better men as far as character and integrity regardless of what our record was."
Olney Superintendent Tom Bailey said no timetable has been set to find Rodriguez's replacement.
