ARLINGTON – Munday didn’t play its best in the first half Thursday afternoon in the Class A Division II title game at Cowboys Stadium.
But the Moguls put on a show against Tenaha in the second half and claimed a 42-14 victory for the school’s third state football title.
Munday quarterback Dee Paul rushed for more than 260 yards and three touchdowns, scoring on runs of 57, 55 and 60 yards.
The Moguls broke a 14-14 halftime tie with Roddrick Taylor’s 18-yard touchdown midway through the third quarter.
Then the Munday defense came through three plays later as defensive end L.J. Collier intercepted a pass in the flat and returned it 36 yards for a touchdown and a 28-14 advantage.
Paul, who had hurt his wrist in the first half, put on a show after that, scoring on runs of 57 and 60 yards to ice the game.
