Letters to the Editor (April 2)

James L. Short, Wichita Falls

Wow, a recent letter writer sure sounds like he has done his homework. I don’t know where he got his information, but he knows nothing of what he speaks. I am on the heart transplant list and never have I been asked for one red cent!

I see he also knows who will be allowed to enter the Kingdom of God and who won’t. Remember Jesus said no one gets to the Father, but through me. I hope when and if I get that call that there is a heart for me I can pass the writer’s test. Maybe the writer should spend a little less time judging and a little more time with the Good Book. I think I will put my faith in God.

Betty Blythe, Wichita Falls

Tired of word

I am so tired of hearing “Obamacare.”

You can be sure that when you hear this it is going to be followed by an explosion of denigration of the Affordable Health Care Act.

I compliment the Times Record News for the great section in Marach 25 paper on the health care act and the good things it has accomplished already and the likelihood of better health care to come.

Do we not care about those who can’t afford $500 a month or more premium for insurance for their family or can only get expensive and inadequate care at emergency rooms at the taxpayer’s expense. It seems too many of us don’t care as long as “I’ve got mine and it doesn’t change.”

And heaven forbid, don’t let the government get involved because insurance companies and free enterprise will do such a good job of taking care of everybody.

George Clay, Wichita Falls

Teen’s death a tragedy

What a tragedy concerning the death of Trayvon Martin. A call all parents would dread receiving in the middle of the night.

The political left’s script and slanted media reporting of this tragedy is a sign of what’s wrong in this country.

Racism? No! But the left is stoking the fire of racial discord and trying to use this tragedy for political gain.

The New Black Panther Party saw its chance to add to the hate being spread by this tragedy by calling on black men to volunteer to track Trayvon’s shooter down.

It even offered a $10,000 reward for him — dead or alive, “citing an eye for an eye or a tooth for a tooth.” Wonder why that isn’t being reported by the media?

The Justice Department said it would investigate the Sanford Police Department, though it was silent on the Panther’s call for vigilante justice. Is anyone surprised?

Even worse, President Obama chimed in, just like he did a few years ago, with hardly any facts, when he defended his Harvard Law School buddy and accused the cops of acting stupidly.

Later, it was learned the cops had done exactly what they were trained to do and did.

America deserves political leadership that tries to heal our national wounds instead of rubbing them raw. This country can’t afford four more years of Barack Obama and his lack of leadership.

Ms.Blythe: The name of the game is money. Where are they going to get the extra money to help get all of these people covered that don't have any health insurance period?
What will most likely happen is that if President Obama is re-elected,and his health program passes, then we will be hit with taxes that we have never seen before and it will include everyone.
I have been on Medicare for years and have had to have a extra policy to pay for what the Medicare did not pay.
Now the govenment wants to cut back on what they pay the doctors for Medicare and if they do that, then the doctors will not want to take on any more Medicare patiants. This also goes for Medicade patiants also.
The doctors has to make a living and it cost a lot of money to pay employes and office expence.
None of the politions want to talk about taxes, but the money will have to come from somewhere.
Everyone needs decent healthcare, but it will have to be payed for.

Mr. Clay: While I agree in the main with the points you made in your letter, I must take exception to the logic of the letter itself. It is impossible for me, at least, to make the leap of logic from a tragedy such as occurred in Florida to it in someway being the fault of the current administration. Maybe it's just me, but I can't do that.

Mr. Short: My best wishes for your turn on the transplant list to arrive very, very soon. I can only imagine what the need and the waiting must be like for you and your family. My prayers are with you and your family. I agree with you about putting your faith and trust in The Lord.

What we are seeing with the Trayvon Martin case is just another attempt by the left and their lapdogs in the media to divide our country for the purpose of re-electing a man that should have never been elected in the first place.

The Wisconsin Fleebaggers started out the stupid circus and then came the Occupy Wall Street and the attempt to divide the so called 99% against the 1%. (haves vs have not's)
Then Conservatives against women BS with the very obvious lies of Sandra Fluke at Pelosi's fake "hearing"
followed by the Government versus Religion with abortion and contraception mandates.
And finally the Trayvon Martin case is going for the old Black versus "White" standby.....well "white" Hispanic....close enough for them..

Look for the LSM to go after the supreme court hard after they knock down Obamacare or for something else to incite Hispanics or any number of groups out there.

Obama is an Community Organizer..... and the BS we are seeing now is straight from Rules for Radicals.
It's easy to spot if you have read Saul Alinsky's book.

Ground control to to Major TC: come back to earth. The Trayvon Martin case exposes racial bigotry on a national stage. If a black man shoots a white teenager in a white neighborhood, he's goin' to jail, probably for a while. Small, and not so small town prosecutors build their careers, having neither the grades or the ambition to get a job offer from the prestigious firms,on the backs of men of color whether they were actually guilty or not. The Innocence Project is being stonewalled at every turn by a corrupt Criminal Justice system in their requests to review DNA evidence where it is still available. The shoddy, maybe even criminally negligent investigation by the Sanford PD is a textbook example of racial profiling. Social media are becoming a force to be reckoned with as Deanna's fine editorial pointed out and are as much responsible for the momentum the Martin case is gaining as the MSM or LSM (to appease TC). It is widely known Obama has personally forced Big Oil to run up the price of gas. They're not making a nickel off this recent escalation. Gosh, tell me TC, that you are NOT one of those older men who get excited when the talk turns to women's reproductive options. DON'T tell me you don't have fantasies about control of the "fairer" sex?

Stories are beginning to surface describing the High Court's contempt for Congress as well as their recognition that it is imperative for health care to be addressed. But then, Republicans don't want health care for everyone, only for the economic elite. The rest can just die.

catman8_99#209560 writes:

I don't think he is trying to say that the administration is to blame for the Trayvon Martin incident. It's more like Rahm Emmanuel's pearl of wisdom,"You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.” After all, that's one of the basic community organizer's principles. This could be used in any number of ways, starting with using it as an argument against the second amendment. What other uses can anybody think of?

Seems to me that in the not too distant past, three white men were convicted of killing a black man and all three were sentenced to death. If I'm not mistaken all three have met their maker as they should have. This happened in redneck racists Texas.

I can't imagine why so many people think government run healthcare is going to be such a great thing other than they think it is going to be free. The government can't run anything without it being a huge mess. And just wait until they have some bureaucrat telling you whether they think you need a surgery or treatment. Think that won't happen? I have news for you. We have already had that experience with workman's comp and it is an eye opening experience. Luckily it was finally resolved but what if it was a life threatening experience? If the government can force us to buy insurance what will follow? The precedent will be set by that time and it won't matter what we like or dislike about the matter. What if they next president is a Republican and has an agenda he/she wants to push through. More IRS agents have already been hired to make sure people who don't comply are fined. Think you won't pay the fine? Remember they can and will garnish wages, seize property and bank accounts.

I fear it will be like a lot of people discovered after Obama was elected and they found out he wasn't going to provide free houses for them. I heard a really funny/sad story from a local real estate agent regarding that one. There needs to be some sort of healthcare reform but the government does not need to be running healthcare by any stretch of the imagination.

It sure does expose racial bigotry Moliere.....that's why we get a "white" Hispanic added to the national dialog....It shows the lefts willingness to use race to forward their stupid agenda. Deanna's editorial just exposes another example of even small town media's attempt to sway our thinking without all the facts. Do you really think she has any more information than the rest of us to be able to determine the Zimmerman "murdered" Martin? NBC is now taking a hit on their bias with the edited 911 audio and ABC on their Fuzzy video and claim to see no wounds.....HD version clearly shows wounds to the back of his head and tape on his nose.

Your just going to have to face the fact Moliere that we are on to the Alinsky tactics BS.....and will point out every attempt to use them.

Your five not so subtle attempts to divide only make my case.

We would be better off if Congress outlawed health insurance altogether than forcing everyone to get it.

The health care 'crisis' began with the rise of health insurance and it has just become worse as more people get health insurance.

In the old days, people were OK paying for their normal doctor visits. Then health insurance came around and people were willing to pay $5,000 in premiums so they didn't have to pay $200 to their doctor.

There's no doubt some sort of hospital/cancer policy is a good idea, but insurance policies that cover doctor visits/medicines cannot be efficient.

It is not economically possible to add a layer between customer and supplier (in any business) and make it more efficient. Every level adds inefficiency. That's why federal education dollars are so inefficient. Much of that money goes from the feds, to the state, to an education service center to the school. 3 entities take their share of the money before it gets anywhere near the kids.

It's not that I don't the poor to have health insurance - I don't want anyone to have it (except for hospital insurance where it makes a little more sense).

In the event she did have more information TC, I doubt seriously that you would be able to handle it. Speaking of agendas, stupid or otherwise, why is it you fail to respond to my assertion that if this were a black man trolling a white neighborhood with a loaded weapon that killed an unarmed white teenager, would he be running free today? Those are the facts, Jack, that no one can dispute. A black, unarmed teenager is dead from gunshot wounds fired by someone who just happened to be in the neighborhood with a loaded weapon.

As I pointed out the other day, MSM is a private industry that employs thousands of people. They do not exist as a public service and the information they offer is yours to peruse if you see fit. Or not. That is your choice. Don't like it, don't watch or listen to it. But understand they are not accountable to you or anyone else excepting the Board of Directors and shareholders who expect/demand a return on their investment. They can/will tell you the moon is made of green cheese if that will increase profitibility. Ain't nuthin' more American than that.

It came out that George Zimmerman's father is a judge and his mother is clerk in the courts. I am not saying that he is guilty at all, but I do hope that the grand jury gets this case soon. All we get is propaganda. Photos of Trayvon when he was 13 years old. Voice analysis of who is screaming "Help me, Help me". One expert says it is George. Another says it is not George. And the race baiters are all in Florida. Sharpton (getting paid by NBC), Jesse Jackson, Farrakhan and the New Black Panthers offering a 10k hit on Zimmerman. And since when do grieving parents get trademarks on certain phrases so that they can collect money every time they are used? My mind couldn't even go there. To capitalize off of my dead son's name? This is all getting crazy. Let the judicial system do it's work. The Grand Jury is supposed to meet this month on this. Every one simmer down. It is a tragedy no matter what the color of anyone involved. There is no color to the spirit.

Moliere, maybe you have forgotten that this is a capitalist society, not a socialist one. Some people will always have an economic advantage and some will not. Some people will have made a success of themselves, some will not. Some people work hard, some do not.

I am not one of the "rich" in this country but I do not begrudge those that are. I feel for those that are truely down on their luck thru no fault of their own, but I do actively dislike those that believe we "owe" them everything. And unfortunatly, we are becoming a society of entitlements. I believe you should get what you work for and if someone has millions of dollars, well, good for them. They succeeded in the American dream.

I will deny that I hate Democrats.....actually believe they have some pretty good ideas and yes, Moliere, I have even voted for some. As for blinders, you my friend, are wearing them, not I.

That's rich lib when there is nothing but naked spin coming from your side. We all know if it was a black man killing a white teen the media would bury it....like they always do. How about the black teens that set the white kid on fire?...ring a bell?....No?.....or the 5 black teens that beat the Hispanic kid?...nothing?....or the 7 on 1 in chicago?....... How about black on black killing?......how many where shot in Chicago over the St. Pats weekend?

The MSM now pure propaganda for the left....and their demise is coming soon and they have nobody to blame but themselves. If your livelihood is based on public perception it's probably not a good idea to lie and insult over half your potential audience. They don't know it yet but streaming video will put them all out of business pretty soon. Think about it.....why pay to be lied to and insulted......I don't and my satellite bill went from around $250 a month to $30 for content I actually watch and news sources that I trust. Why pay to get HBO and support idiot Bill Maher just so you can watch some movies that you can get quicker on Netflix and watch them whenever you want.

I see similarities between the Zimmerman case in FL and our Whitefield case here in WF. Black kid in FL killed by "white" Hispanic man, Which makes it automatically and instantly, for some reason, a race thing. Hispanic girls killed by a white cop, which makes it a race thing here, also for the same unfathomable reason. Zimmerman out on the street while the investigating authority completes its work. Whitefield out on the street while the investigating authority completes its work, making sure it has all its ducks in a row. Now Whitefield is charged and will be tried. I'd rather the ducks be in thier proper alignment than not.

Wouldn't stringing Zimmerman up they way the NBP wants be the same as the lynchings of the past that everyone deplores now? I hope we have grown past that, and things will simmer down so that the justice system can do its proper diligance.

Just asked a question 'bout this. You are welcome to respond. "No billed" simply means the prosecution will or won't aggressively pursue a conviction in its presentation to the GJ. Suggest you research how Grand Juries are put together. They typically know as much about the law as school board members know about the education of young people.

Questions that liberals seem to REFUSE to consider: Did Zimmerman, with the knowledge that his neighborhood had suffered many break-ins and theft in recent weeks, have the right to be suspicious of an unknown person in his neighborhood? Did Zimmerman, on his back, losing the fight, fearing this black kid was a criminal who might beat him to death or grab his gun, fire in presumed self-defense? Did Martin, who had a right to be afraid and even enraged with this character following and hassling him, start the fight? Would Zimmerman, an out of shape dude who carried a legal firearm, start a fistfight with an athletic black youth who was reportedly 6 inches taller?

Fact is, we don't know all of the facts. It could VERY WELL BE that Zimmerman acted in self defense...hence he would NOT be subject to arrest. But we STILL DON'T KNOW enough yet.

Ya gotta love it when TC starts a sentence with, "We all know" Do you work for the media, liberal or otherwise, TC? Your rhetoric suggests as much. Does someone make you watch Bill Maher? You whine incessantly about the media but you have the choice to watch it or not.

Here is the question; answer it if you have the courage: Would a black man trolling a white neighborhood in a car with a loaded weapon who killed an unarmed white teenager be running free today anywhere in America?

Here's another question:: Would a black man patrolling his black burglary prone neighborhood in a car with a loaded weapon who killed an unarmed white teenager dressed in a hoodie and pants around his butt be running free today anywhere in America?

TC, it is totally unfair of you to provide actual proof of your statements. How is the other side supposed to argue when you do that? I guess that's when they change the subject.

Hey, TRN! How about doing something on your own, and publish some current (ie: RECENT) pictures of BOTH individuals?

Research is too hard PR....the media can't be expected to portray the facts anymore, just their own perception of the facts.......so I will lend them a hand....free of charge.

Note the obvious wounds to Zimmerman's head and face in the HD version of the video. Also make sure to read the articles on the attached links.

The Florida court system can decide this case. I hope that Zimmerman gets many years in prison. I believe the 2 female neighbors who were closest to the murder. They said Zimmerman was straddling Trayvon and Trayvon was lying on his stomach. They heard him whimpering and then after the gunshot, he stopped. Zimmerman is a "cop wannbee" and I heard on one station that there was no neighborhood watch at that apt complex. Florida is in the south, the part of the U.S. where slavery happened. I moved to Wichita Falls in 1995 and the schools were still segregated then. WF had a KKK Rally at Harold Jones park since I lived here. Many people are still fighting the Civil War, I'm afraid. I'm from the north and was raised that blacks and whites are equal but will they ever be in the U.S.?

Maybe you should say...I hope Zimmerman gets many years in prison if found guilty and left alone if proven not guilty? But I'm pretty sure that won't be the case.....will it?

The Retreat at Twin Lakes is a 260-unit gated community complex and not an apartment complex....and Zimmerman was in fact on the neighborhood watch.

Just reading your comments exposes your bias and misconceptions in the case.

I was in WF back in 95 and I seem to recall that the KKK was mocked by most and ignored by others. Did you go down and protest them? I know quite a few that did. I personally choose to ignore them since I figured if nobody shows up then who cares what the idiots do. Still a free country and they can do what they want....and you are free to give them power by paying attention to them.

I don't like OWS....but they still have the right to protest.

ABO12.....because he's doubling down on stupid.

TC, I did the research; what you stated in your post was copied word for word without an acknowledgment. But you are correct that we still don't know the whole story. If the Sanford PD has definitive proof either way why don't they publish it? The answer is they don't or they would.

ABTC because he steals other peoples work.

A white kid in a black, crime ridden neighborhood would never see the light of day, bud. I have been that kid on the south side of Chicago near Joliet. It was just not my time.

If you call that proof, I hope you never sit on a jury. With enough time you can use the internet to find someone who will tell you, in great detail, why the Holocaust was a good thing. TC spends a lot of his time doing this, as if it would validate his empty rhetoric.

That's about what I expected from you moron. Since when do the police publish evidence before they indict someone?

ABO12.....because when ill informed idiots like Moliere support him is all the proof of his incompetence I need.

I seem to have hit a nerve. When TC don't get his whiny way he goes to name callin' out of desperation. Oh, what tangled webs we weave when first we practice to deceive.

The thought of someone like you with absolutely no common sense and obvious preconceived bias is frightening to say the least. Hopefully a good judge or lawyer would cull you from the herd before your stupidity could ruin someone's life.

The rhetoric always seems empty to the fool that lacks the logic to understand it. Your thought process is so childlike I'm amazed you made it this far in life. Only the stupid are truly lucky.

Here's a little insight into Zimmerman from the Seminole county NAACP.
Back in December 4, 2010 an African American homeless man was beaten by the son of a Sanford police officer. After inaction by the police to charge the kid with the beating.....George Zimmerman stepped in to organize the black community and forced a city hall meeting on January 8, 2011 to attempt to get some justice for the homeless man.

Now does that sound like a racist?

Without one shred of evidence, you both make equally impossible claims.

Bigotry and hatred, wrapped in religion, is still bigotry and hatred.

Hey Lib-TC suffers from Obama derangement syndrome. He has all the classic symptoms-right wing websites as proof, ABO,lib this, lib that, lametream media, Palin worhip, and belief in Sharia law, I quit argueing with that dude because he is showing more signs of being unhinged. Remember he has a gun (and he is clinging it to it, lest Obama comes and gets it. It is also troubling that he has resorted to plagerizing. Anyway, keep up the good fight.
