TODAY’S SPECIAL

PILOT POINT (0-1)

at IOWA PARK (1-0)

Summary

After two scrimmages and one game on the road, Iowa Park coach Scott Ponder finally gets to make his home debut with the Hawks. Pilot Point won a 2A state championship last year, but is back in Class 3A and coming off a 50-35 loss to Liberty Christian last week.

Keys to the Game:

Iowa Park started off strong in a 31-14 victory over Pampa, and Pilot Point didn’t, surrendering 23 points in the first quarter last week. So another quick IP start could go a long way. More importantly, the Hawks’ defense must keep Bearcat QB J.P. Price under wraps. Price threw for 343 yards, ran for another 69 and was involved in 59 of the team’s 67 offensive plays.

Keep an Eye on

(PP) OL Boone Feldt; Willie Davis; DL Austin Acletura; (IP) WR Kris Tucker; LB Colby Watson; RB Garrett Davis.

“They can score anytime from anywhere on the field. We’ll have to improve in all aspects.” — Iowa Park’s Scott Ponder

APPETIZERS

ARCHER CITY (1-0) at PETROLIA (0-1)

The Pirates hope to put last week’s seven-turnover fiasco behind them, while the Wildcats will look to keep building off an impressive opening win against Haskell.

BURKBURNETT (0-1) at BRIDGEPORT (1-0)

A week after allowing 59 points to Wichita Falls High School, the Bulldogs’ defense will be sternly tested once again. Bulls quarterback Cody Henson threw for 304 yards and five touchdowns in a 49-26 whipping of Glen Rose.

OLNEY (1-0) at MUNDAY (0-1)

The Moguls look to get back on track after Stamford manhandled them last week. Olney’s defense must find a way to slow the Moguls’ speed down.
